How to make mooli paratha / Radish paratha / Mooli paratha / Radish stuffed flatbreads
Mooli paratha is another kind of stuffed paratha in which we use mooli or radhish as stuffing . It's a North Indian recipe specially from punjab . Stuffed parathas are a good way of adding fresh veggies in your meal or breakfast. Even kids kids also love it.
I learned this recipe from my mom . My mom ususlly make these yummy mooli parathas and carrot parathas mostly in winters . I still remember those winters having paratha with achar or pickel and a cup of tea.
In this mooli paratha recipe, I do not use any spices . I just use grated mooli or radish , cilantro ,green chilly , grated ginger , ajwain or carom seeds and salt. Thses few and very common ingredients will make your stuffed paratha simple yet delicious.
These mooli paratha goes well with curd or raita or butter on top and a hot cup of tea.
Let's start making Mooli paratha:
Ingredients
- Wheat flour dough or roti dough
- 2 Radish or Mooli
- !/2 cup of Cilantro or dhaniya
- 2-3 green chilli
- 1/4 tsp grated ginger
- 1/2 tsp carom seeds or ajwain
- salt to taste
Method
Knead the soft wheat flour dough like roti or chapati dough and keep it aside.
After that , Squeeze the grated mooli with the help of your palms. This squeezing grated mooli helps in rolling parathas otherwise the juice from grated mooli will come out while rolling paratha .
Chop the cilantro or dhaniya and green chilli finely and grate some ginger.
Remember one this , I didn't add salt this time . Because we need to add salt to this stuffing only when we are absolutely ready to cook parathas otherwise salt will start moistening the grated mooli . If you have time, add salt right before cooking .
Take a small lemon sized ball from dough and roll it into a thin roti shape and keep it aside.
Take another small lemon sized ball from dough roll it to make another thin roti.
Cover this with another rolled roti and gently press the edges. So this way you do not have to worry about the juice coming out from grated mooli.
Meanwhile , heat the tava or griddle and when the griddle is sufficiently hot , place this paratha on gridle.
Spread some ghee or oil or butter on both sides of paratha and fry properly.
