Kaddu ki Kadhi / Kaddu ki khatti sabzi / Chattisgarhi Makhana Kadhi / Chattisgarhi Kumhda ki Kadhi / Yellow squash in gramflour and yoghurt stew
Hi friends , Today I thought to share my family's one of favourite recipe " Kaddu ki kadhi". This Kaddu ki kadhi is a Chattisgarhi recipe. Before marriage , I have never heard about this kadhi. My sister-in-law introduced this recipe to me. So all credit goes to my SIL for telling me this amazing kadhi recipe. We all lave to eat kaddu ki kadhi with hot steaming rice.
Some people don't like kaddu or pumpkin sabzi so this kadhi is very good option with kaddu. It's sour and sweet taste is irresistible . Even I conveyed this recipe to my mom because she also doesn't know about this recipe. Kaddu ki kadhi doesn't take time rather than Pakoda kadhi. Kaddu kadhi recipe is similar to Bhindi kadhi recipe. I have already posted the recipe of Bhindi ki Kadhi. Both the kadhi recipes are my weekly recipe. Mostly I cook either Kaddu ki kadhi or Bhindi ki kadhi every week and my family loves to have this.
So Let us start the recipe:Ingredients
- 250 grams Kumhda or Kaddu or Makhana or Yellow squash or Pumpkin
- 1.5 tbsp gramflour
- 400 ml. Yoghurt
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder or to taste
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 pinch asafetida
- 1/4 tsp mustard seed
- Few curry leaves
- 2 dry red chillies
- 1/2 cup onion finely chopped
- 1 cup tomatoes finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- Cilantro for garnishing
Method
Wash them before cooking.
chop onion and tomatoes finely.
Add tomatoes and cook them till mushy.
Mix it very well and cover the kadhai with lid.
while Kaddu is cooking , prepare gravy.
Take a bowl, add gram flour, turmeric powder, chilli powder and yoghurt.
Whisk properly and make a lump free batter.
Add 3-4 cups of water to make this batter watery.
Again mix it very well to get lump free.
Cover the bowl and keep this mixture aside.
Check the pumpkin , take a pieces of pumpkin and press it if it is pressed , means kaddu is cooked.
We don't want mushy pumpkin in kadhi . Pumpkin should be in pieces and cooked.
Add the gramflour-yoghurt mixture in kadhai and mix it very well.
Add little salt to this and mix it again.
cover the kadhai and let it simmer until gravy starts thickens.
Stir it while it cooking.
Let it cook for a while until right consistency.
garnish with finely chopped cilantro.
Serve with steaming hot rice and roti or paratha.
Enjoy !!!
